About

Hey There!

I'm Nicole, an Accounting and Math major who talked my college roommate out of pursuing an Education  Degree.

Nevertheless, after tutoring Mathematics and Writing in college, teaching English overseas, and leading my children through their first reading lessons, Education has become my life's major.  A mother to four children, I have a passion for waking the next generation to the wonders of the world and connecting adults, particularly parents, with our children through education.

I find value in all forms of education, having friends and family enrolled in public, private and university style schools. For our family, schooling at home with the help of Classical Conversations weekly tutorials has worked best thus far.

My hope is that this education journal would help parents or mentors of any student, Classical Conversations tutors and parents, and others desiring to learn practical means to provide classical education opportunities,  better connect with students through, not in spite of, educational pursuits.

As Robert Louis Stevenson wrote,

'The world is so full of  a number of things, I'm sure we should all be as happy as kings.'

The more I engage with my children in their education, remembering and relearning the number of things in the world, the more happy and grateful I become.   My hope is that this would be true for you too, whether you are teaching your own child, reading to a number of refugee children, mentoring a neighbor's child, or helping your own little one struggling with nightly homework.   No matter your life's major, engaging the world's future generation with a love for learning about this enormous world is no minor thing.   Let's encourage one another in this worthwhile pursuit.
